Yoo Jae Suk’s tax filing method goes viral — pays MILLIONS more, stays scandal-free
A video from tax accountant Yoon Na Gyeom on her TaxTV YouTube channel is making waves for revealing why Yoo Jae Suk has never faced a tax controversy.
Yoon breaks down celebrity tax filing in Korea: They choose between bookkeeping or a standard expense rate. Bookkeeping means hiring an accountant to maximize deductions. Standard expense rate is simpler but usually means paying more taxes.
Most celebs pick bookkeeping to lower their tax bill. Yoo Jae Suk does the opposite.
Yoon Na Gyeom:
“Let’s say someone earned ₩10.0 billion KRW (about $7.17 million USD). They would pay about ₩2.70 billion KRW (about $1.94 million USD) in taxes with bookkeeping. But using Yoo Jae Suk’s simplified method, he would pay ₩4.10 billion KRW (about $2.94 million USD)— essentially about ₩1.40 billion KRW (about $1.00 million USD) more.”
The accountant guesses Yoo Jae Suk’s choice is intentional to keep a clean, controversy-free record.
Yoon Na Gyeom:
“A scandal free tax record earns the fans’ trust and elevates his reputation… From an accountant’s point of view, he doesn’t just have no additional taxes due — he could even be eligible for refunds.”
Yoo Jae Suk passed an intensive tax audit in 2024 without any findings of evasion or underreporting.
The video has boosted his respect among Korean netizens:
- “Maybe this is why he’s lasted so long without a single controversy. Impressive.”
- “Not being obsessed with money is really admirable.”
- “The hardest thing to do, like… Most people try so hard to pay less and then end up with additional taxes later. LOL.”
Yoo Jae Suk remains one of the biggest names in Korean entertainment — now known for clean tax records as much as his TV success.
