ITZY Drops New Mini Album ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ Amid Contract Renewal Talks
ITZY (있지) has officially launched their latest mini album, ‘Girls Will Be Girls’, marking an exciting comeback after eight months since their last release.
The group held a press conference on June 9 at Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, with all five members—Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna—present.
This album comes just in time as they celebrate their 6th anniversary since debuting in February 2019. The title track ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ incorporates dynamic beats and vocal harmonies, emphasizing unity. The members stated the song represents their promise to move forward together, proclaiming that “being together is enough.”
The mini album features five tracks:
- Girls Will Be Girls
- Kiss & Tell
- Locked N Loaded
- Promise
- Walk
Yeji emphasized the importance of collaboration and togetherness during the press conference:
"As we reached our 6th anniversary this year, we thought hard about what new message we could share. That’s when the word ‘us’ really resonated."
Fans can already see hints of solidarity in the comeback trailer, which surprisingly features JYP Entertainment’s founder, Park Jin-young. Ryujin explained how easygoing JYP was during filming, adding:
"He came to the set and made the atmosphere really great."
Discussions around contract renewals are also heating up as Chaeryeong disclosed:
"It’s hard to believe we’re already in our 7th year and talking about contract renewals… We hope to share good news with everyone soon."
As they look to the future, ITZY cannot help but reflect on their journey. They aim to present a charismatic side not yet seen before.
