Three Busan high school students found dead in apartment flowerbed after leaving notes about academic pressure.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency confirmed the students, all second-year friends, were discovered around 1:39 AM on June 21. They were rushed to hospitals but did not survive.
Security footage showed them entering the elevator to the 20th floor of a nearby apartment around 11:42 PM the night before. None lived in the building. Their reason for choosing this location remains unknown.
Two students left letters focused on stress from schoolwork. Police said there were no mentions of bullying or other issues, and no signs of physical injury or violence on their bodies.
The Busan Office of Education has formed a special response team. A crisis meeting was held at 10 AM that morning, led by the superintendent of education.
Education officials are supporting families at the three hospitals where memorial spaces were set up. The school is also providing care for students and staff affected by the tragedy.
