Kahi made waves as the oldest female idol to debut, starting her career at nearly 29 years old with After School in 2009.
Unlike many idols who start young, Kahi broke the mold by debuting later and still carving out a successful career. She was leader of After School’s original five-member lineup and stayed active until her graduation in 2012. She continued as a solo artist under Pledis until her contract ended in 2015.
In 2016, Kahi married and gave birth to her first child in October of that year.
Despite many female idols stepping away from the spotlight after marriage, Kahi stayed active. She worked as a judge on the first two seasons of Produce 101 and reunited with After School for a comeback in June 2021.
She also joined Mamadol, a project group of former idols turned mothers, which released a single before disbanding after eight episodes.
Today, Kahi shares her life on Instagram, posting lifestyle content. She also teaches dance classes, often featuring K-pop songs.
The idol-turned-mother proves age doesn’t define a K-pop career — she continues embracing the industry on her own terms.
“I am enjoying life with my husband and two sons,” Kahi shows on Instagram.
