Yoon Ji Sung is facing backlash over his new BL drama role in Thundercloud Rainstorm.
The former WANNA ONE member turned actor is cast as Lee Iljo, a struggling man with no job or savings, who reconnects with his cousin Seo Jeonghan. The drama is based on a popular web novel and webtoon with a 4.8 rating by author Chaesim.
Fans of the original material are not happy. Many say Yoon doesn’t fit Iljo’s image, especially since he’s playing the “bottom” in the relationship. Some feel his vibe clashes with the character’s dazed personality.
Soon after the casting news dropped, comments flooded online:
“Why do they keep turning BLs into live-action? Just let them stay in fantasy… If anything, an anime would be better.”
“Wait, what… I’m kinda shocked.”
“I saw the photo and thought he was the top, but he’s playing the bottom… Iljo’s a dazed-out character, not sure this fits.”
