MAMAMOO’s Solar is facing controversy over her Chinese debut single’s artist registration.
On June 11, Solar took to her Instagram story to blast the music platform for registering her new song under another artist with the same name.
She posted a screenshot showing her Chinese single album, Floating Free, linked to a different singer’s profile. The registration error happened the very day her song was released.
Solar wrote:
Are you kidding me? This is the first time this has happened. Does it make sense to register my song under another artist on the day my song is released?
The song was officially released on June 11 as Solar’s first step into the Chinese market. However, the artist page mix-up sparked complaints.
As of 6 PM KST the same day, the song was available for listening, but the artist page issue remained unfixed.
The Taiwanese record label handling distribution responded with a statement:
An error has occurred on the artist page due to a system recognition error. It is being processed and will be fixed as soon as possible. Rest assured, this will not affect listening to the song, and we thank you for tuning in.
Solar is also preparing for her upcoming fan meet in Taipei on June 22.
