Bang Yedam sparks mixed reactions with new edgy persona DIMO REX and 19+ video
Bang Yedam is facing controversy after rebranding as DIMO REX. The former TREASURE member’s latest “19+” rated video "Like That," dropped July 15, 2025 (KST), shows a drastic shift from his idol days, exploring darker, experimental sounds and visuals.
Since leaving YG Entertainment in November 2022 to pursue producing, Bang Yedam has released solo albums under GF Entertainment in November 2023 and August 2024. Now his DIMO REX identity has fans divided.
Some fans praise the bold change.
“OK. You can tell he’s finally breathing freely after leaving the idol life. The song is insane and the video slayed!! Do whatever you want!”
“The song’s f*cking good.”
Others react with confusion and criticism.
“Looks like he left [TREASURE] to do the same old boring stuff.”
“Is smoking supposed to be cool? Pathetic. Honestly shocked.”
“He’s got decent talent as a singer, but visually don’t know how to use it well… Maybe switching lanes completely to composing or producing wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
“The video is just straight-up drug hallucination vibes;; and it looks super low-budget and cheap, too.”
“LOL. How long are we supposed to baby this kid?”
Some mention past controversies as context:
“Remember the studio hidden camera thing?”
“I still remember that studio thing… So yeah, no thanks.”
The shift to DIMO REX leaves fans asking: Is this Bang Yedam’s new path or an experimental side project?
Bang Yedam isn’t the only former TREASURE member to leave. Mashiho also departed in 2022 and recently surprised fans with a healthy transformation.
