Song Joong Ki faces backlash over controversial prank from 2007.
In a resurfaced clip from the variety show Humiliating Flower Boys, the actor’s patience is under scrutiny. At 22, a pre-debut Song Joong Ki participated in the show which aimed to embarrass “flower boys” through extreme pranks.
The segment, which aired on Mnet from December 26, 2007, to February 20, 2008, featured Song getting trapped in an elevator with an actress.
The prank escalated as she harassed him, attempted to feed him, and even pretended to urinate. Despite the uncomfortable situation, Song remained composed throughout the ordeal.
As the prank continued, staff pumped smoke into the elevator. The actress feigned unconsciousness, prompting Song to give her mouth-to-mouth CPR in a bizarre twist.
He helped her onto a stretcher after the prank was revealed, only to realize he’d been duped all along.
Now, clips of the incident are going viral, attracting criticism for its treatment of women and general appropriateness.
Fans are left questioning whether this incident tarnishes Song Joong Ki’s reputation. As the backlash grows, many are monitoring the situation closely.
