aespa is facing controversy after Apple switched its partnership focus from NewJeans to aespa amid an ongoing contract dispute between NewJeans and ADOR.
On June 9, Apple Korea released a performance video for aespa’s new track “Dirty Work,” entirely filmed on the iPhone 16 Pro. This marks Apple’s latest collaboration in its “Shot on iPhone” campaign, following a successful short film by director Park Chan Wook and NewJeans’ “ETA” video.
The controversy began when Min Hee Jin, ex-CEO of ADOR, revealed a text from HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, asking, "You can stomp on aespa, right?"
The situation escalated when a court ruled on May 29 that any independent activities by NewJeans without ADOR’s approval would result in hefty fines—1 billion KRW (approx. $720,000) per violation.
aespa’s “Dirty Work” video was filmed using advanced techniques, including 4K 120fps slow motion for key visuals. The final scene features stunning fireworks captured with the iPhone’s capabilities.
Apple’s promotional efforts will also showcase behind-the-scenes content and tutorials on how to achieve cinematic results, available on various platforms.

Additionally, Apple Music is featuring a playlist curated by aespa titled “aespa’s Refreshing Summer Music.”
