Seungkwan is in the spotlight again for his generous donation to his hometown, Jeju.
On June 11th KST, the SEVENTEEN member contributed 20 million KRW (around 14,600 USD) to the Cultural Heritage Administration and the National Trust for Cultural Heritage. The funds will help preserve the ‘Jeju April 3rd Archives’, recently added to the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.
As a proud Jeju native, Seungkwan has a history of charitable acts. In November 2022, after becoming Jeju’s promotional ambassador, he made a “Hometown Love Donation” to protect the endangered Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins.
During the 2023 UNESCO Youth Forum in Paris, he further promoted Jeju’s unique status as the first region globally to have triple UNESCO designations. SEVENTEEN also made history as the first K-pop group to have a dedicated session at the event and became UNESCO’s first Youth Goodwill Ambassadors.
In other news, SEVENTEEN’s recent 5th full-length album, ‘HAPPY BURSTDAY’, released on May 26th, has already set records. It achieved the highest first-week sales for any K-pop album this year and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart on June 14th.
“PLEDIS Entertainment said Seungkwan is committed to supporting his hometown.”
